The cheapest way to kill a geared player in the game. 40 damage with a 2.5x headshot multiplier means 100 damage to the head. Two headshots kill through Medium shields (EHP max 173.91). The craft cost is practically nothing. This is the gun that proves gear doesn't win fights in Arc Raiders. Skill does.
| Shield | Body | Head |
|---|---|---|
| None | 3 | 1 |
| Light (Green) | 3 | 2 |
| Medium (Blue) | 4 | 2 |
| Heavy (Purple) | 4 | 3 |
40 damage body. 100 damage head (2.5x). Light Shield (40 HP, 40% mit): shield drains in 1 shot, HP takes 24 simultaneously — 3 body shots total. Medium Shield (70 HP, 42.5% mit): 4 body shots. Heavy Shield (80 HP, 52.5% mit): 4 body shots. Two headshots kill through any shield tier.
Fire rate improves 65% from Tier I (0.33 shots/sec) to Tier IV (0.55 shots/sec). Upgrading Ferro is one of the best investments in the game because the damage stays constant but you shoot significantly faster. A Tier IV Ferro feels like a completely different weapon.
Compensator (dispersion recovery for follow-up shots), Underbarrel Grip (faster ADS for peek battles), Padded Stock (recoil control).
Same 40 damage, but Anvil has a 6-round mag vs Ferro's 1. Anvil fires faster at higher tiers. Anvil is the straight upgrade if you can afford Gunsmith 2. Until then, Ferro.
Renegade has better range (68.8 vs 53.1), bigger mag (5 rounds), but uses Medium ammo (Moderate pen). Against Heavy Shield players, Ferro's Strong pen wins. Against Light/Medium, it's preference.
Shredder in 12, Sentinel in 8, Rocketeer in 28, Bombardier in 67.
Run Ferro until you can afford Renegade or Anvil. Then keep running Ferro as your budget option. It never stops being good.
