The Dolabra can fire a wide electrical burst (crowd control, PvE) or a focused funnel (single-target, ARC armor cracking). The key question: does the Dolabra's focused mode match the Vulcano's raw TTK? If so, it offers ARC effectiveness the Vulcano doesn't have (Vulcano has Weak ARC pen). If not, the Vulcano remains the PVP shotgun king.
vs Il Toro
The Il Toro is the budget shotgun (Uncommon). The Dolabra is the premium energy shotgun (Legendary, blueprint from Close Scrutiny). The Il Toro uses Shotgun ammo; the Dolabra uses Energy. No ammo conflict — you could run both, but that's a lot of weight in CQC weapons.
vs Equalizer
Both use Energy ammo. The Equalizer is a beam rifle (long range, sustained damage). The Dolabra is a shotgun (close range, burst damage). They share an ammo pool, which matters: running both means Energy ammo scarcity. But they cover opposite ranges — a powerful all-Energy loadout for ARC hunting.

Embark specifically described the Dolabra as a way to 'punch through ARC armor plating.' The focused funnel mode is designed for ARC. Test against Bastions, Sentinels, and the Vaporizer. If it strips ARC armor faster than the Hullcracker at close range, it becomes the go-to CQC ARC weapon.

The Dolabra Blueprint drops from the ARC Assessor during Close Scrutiny ARC Operations. This is the only confirmed source — multiple players confirmed finding it within the first hour of the patch.
To get the Dolabra Blueprint: 1. Queue for a map with the Close Scrutiny condition active 2. Bring endgame gear — ARC patrols and Vaporizers guard the Assessor 3. Fight through to the Assessor and loot it 4. The Blueprint is not guaranteed — multiple runs may be needed
Crafting requires Vaporizer Regulators, which drop from killing Vaporizer ARC enemies.
The Dolabra is Legendary rarity — it cannot be upgraded through tiers.
